Priceless Parrot Preserve
A Place Where Every Parrot is Priceless

Mission Statement
The Priceless Parrot Preserve, Inc. exists for the purpose of educating the public about exotic birds (as pets and in the wild) and to give a permanent home to abused, mistreated, and unwanted exotic birds. We do not sell, breed, or adopt out any birds who come into our care.

Our Goals
Our Advice to Those Considering a Parrot as a Pet
Do your homework. Know exactly what you are getting into. Some species of parrot, live African Greys, Amazons, and Macaws can live 80 to 100 years. This is a long commitment that could last the rest of your life. Having a pet parrot is like having a child that will never leave your home. Young couples thinking about having children should not buy a bird until having the child and deciding it is still the right choice. If you are a working couple and both of you are not home during the day, a bird is not for you. Check out our flock member histories page to learn more about the dire consequences of poor parrot ownership.
If you do think you are ready for a bird, consider adopting! There are 100's of parrot rescues in the United States that adopt parrots out. Although we do not adopt out parrots that we take in, we get numerous calls every day from people wanting us to adopt their parrot. Many of these parrots would make great family pets but, for whatever reason, their previous owners can no longer take care of it and would like for us to find it a good home. We are happy to connect people looking to adopt parrots to parrot owners looking for a new home for their adoptable parrots. You may get a great pet, save a life, and save some money too.
- To take in unwanted, abused, or neglected birds and give them a permanent home.
- To work with any birds we take in so that they regain their trust in people.
- To run outreach events to better educate the public about the care and habits of exotic birds, mainly young children. They are the future of these beautiful creatures and it is through them that we may be able to save these species and their habitats.
- To be there when people need help, advice, or information about their bird or someone else's. We will try to help to the best of our knowledge, where necessary, refer bird owners to a certified avian vet.
- To educate people about the responsibilities of owning a bird and, if they are ready for that responsibility, to let them know about the rewarding opportunity of adoption and giving a loving home to a parrot who needs one.
- Our ultimate dream and goal is to be able to get a large piece of property here on Long Island and build a permanent structure with a hospital dedicated to caring for exotic birds that is staffed by people who care. It would be open to the public so that they could bring in their pets for care by a certified avian vet at an affordable price.
